They are also great in any dish - this versatility means that can be a staple fruit in many dinners. Whether you prefer mild and sweet bell peppers for salads and stuffing, or fiery hot jalapenos and habaneros for salsas and spicy dishes, there's a pepper variety to suit every plate.
Harvesting peppers from your garden ensures peak freshness and flavour. You also have control over how your peppers are grown, ensuring they are pesticide-free and grown in nutrient-rich soil.
Sweet Peppers Seeds
Sweet pepper seeds come in a variety of types, including traditional bell peppers that mature from green to red, yellow, purple, or orange. Other varieties may include specialty sweet peppers plants with unique shapes, colours, and flavours.
Sweet pepper plants are generally compact and bushy, making them suitable for gardens, containers, in pots or even indoor growing.
They thrive in warm climates with plenty of sunlight. They can be grown outdoors in the UK during the summer months or in greenhouses to extend the growing season.
Planting & Growing Tips
In the UK, it's best to grow pepper that thrives in lower temperatures, but they can always be grown in a greenhouse!
If you're planning to start pepper seeds inside and transplant them into a seed bed, start 8 to 10 weeks before the last expected frost date, use a well drained seed starting mix in a seed tray and sow pepper seeds and chilli seeds around 1/4 inch deep - this should give your seeds a nice head start before moving to the big wide world.
When ready to transplant, choose a really sunny spot, and space plants around 18 - 24 inches apart to give them enough space to grow.
Its best to keep the soil moist, but not water logged and apply a layer of mulch around the plants to help maintain moisture.
