Calabrese (Broccoli) Green Magic F1

Green Magic Calabrese Broccoli seeds are an early-maturing variety that produces medium-sized, 350-500g heads with an attractive green colour, tight beads, and a smooth dome. This versatile variety shows excellent regional adaptability and offers partial resistance to downy mildew and strong resistance to white blister.

For overwinter propagation, it is recommended to use 216-cell trays or smaller cell sizes. Green Magic matures in 70-80 days after transplanting, making it a reliable choice for growers.

Sowing Period

• Timing: Sow Green Magic Calabrese seeds from April to May.

Sowing Method

• Start seeds in trays or modules under glass at 13°C.
• For later sowings, plant seeds in shallow drills, 2cm (¾") deep, in short rows in a seed bed.

Seedling Management

• Once seedlings in the glasshouse develop their first true leaves, transplant into trays, spacing 5cm (2") apart, or thin to one seedling per cell.
• Gradually harden off seedlings before transplanting outdoors. Space plants 45cm (18") apart, both between plants and between rows.
• For outdoor sowings, thin plants to 7-10cm (3-4") apart. Once seedlings reach 15cm (6") tall, transplant them to their final positions, maintaining the same spacing.

Harvest Time

• Maturity Period: July to September.

Growing Tip

• Harvest before the heads begin to flower. If you have an excess, cut and freeze for later use.
